I am a 3nd year PhD student at Colorado State University. Terrestrial carbon cycling, specifically the soil C impacts of bioenergy production systems, is the focus of my doctoral studies. Ecosystem modeling is the best tool to incorporate the spatial heterogeneity of soils and the complexity of plant/soil interactions in the study of soil C changes from land management. Therefore my research involves modeling the soil C impacts of specific bioenergy production systems (including corn stover, mixed grasses, and sugarcane), comparing simulated versus field data, and using these results to understand large-scale implications of bioenergy development. Additionally I am developing and testing methods to model deep soil C, designing testing protocols using existing datasets and model selection using Bayesian analytical techniques.
