Jessica Brauch

I grew up exploring the woods of Minnesota and developed a passion for the outdoors and conservation biology at an early age. I received my B.S. in Fisheries and Wildlife from the University of Nebraska and my M.S. in Entomology from Louisiana State University where I studied West Nile virus ecology in wild birds and mosquitoes. Since then I have worked on projects involving sensitive bird species for the United States Geological Survey and Colorado Division of Wildlife. I will be joining the GDPE this fall and working with Dr. Barry Noon on population ecology of the greater sage-grouse in northwestern Colorado. My project will focus on the development and evaluation of monitoring techniques for the species. It will be closely tied to oil and gas development and will contribute to future management strategies for sage-grouse in Colorado and beyond.
