Originally from Long Island, New York, I completed my BS in Biology at Georgetown University. As a college senior I studied the diversity of flower flies at a local nature preserve. I returned to New York, specifically Syracuse, to further my understanding of insects in a master's program in Entomology at SUNY- College of Environmental Science and Forestry. There I researched performance responses of folivorous lepidopterans to transgenic, pathogen-resistant American heritage trees. I now work with Diana Wall, investigating the effects of insect defoliation in grasslands on soil food webs, particularly soil fauna.
